The padlocks are machined separately from the plaque and are inserted as onlays into shallow pocketsįor precise positioning on the plaque. The padlocks were created in Aspire using reference photos of actual antique padlocks as guides during the modeling process. This project features four padlock models finished to look like aged metal, then incorporated with a wooden plaque as a truly unique and convenient wall-mounted key hanger for you to enjoy!
It was modeled in Aspire 8.5 and cut on a ShopBot Buddy® PRSalpha BT48.

(Note: The Circle Resize Gadget for VCarve Pro makes it really easy to modify several circle sizes at once, and not miss any)ĭesigned in VCarve Pro v10 and cut on a ShopBot Desktop MAX. Each machining process is on its own layer in the file though, making it easy to select and modify hole and pocket sizes. The files are set up for the thickness material used, with ½” plywood generally 0.475” thick and the dowels a little bit larger than its nominal size. The dxf version is for people that haven’t kept up to date on the VCarve Pro versions, but they are identical except for the loss of toolpathing info.

There are six cutting files in the download with different layouts.three in VCarve Pro V10 format and the same three in dxf. The ShopBot Rubberband Racers are cut out of ½” plywood with a ¼” bit. The download includes ShopBot files, VCarve v10.022 files (including the toolpathing data that we use), and dxf files. These files are for the 25” tall version, which is suitable for elementary aged kids and is based on the dxf files that Open Works shares. There’s even a desk assembly video available to give you a sense of just how simple it is to put one of these desks together.Īs part of ShopBot’s support of this very cool project we’re sharing the production files that we’re using to cut the desks and stools in North Carolina and Virginia. It gives a child that is working at the kitchen table (or the coffee table, the couch, or their bed!) a place of their own to comfortably work and keep their school supplies in one place. The Makers Unite desk is a project created by the folks at Open Works, a makerspace in Baltimore, to supply desks to kids that are learning from home during the Covid pandemic.
